Journalists say, that the members of Canadian scientific expedition, after reaching (during July ) Melville island, which is located on the latitude of 76 degrees, with the shock they looked, how the pointer of the thermometer rises to the level of +22 degrees of Celsius.
According to one of participants of the expedition, the professor of geography Scott Lamore, the average summer temperature here usually does not exceed +5 degrees, and this island is considered one of the coldest places of subarctic Northern America.
Walt Meier, the expert of The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), located in Colorado, confirms that similar, unusually high temperatures have been recorded in this summer, also, in other regions of the Arctic.
According to Dr David Carlson ,director of the international program on research of Arctic regions -International Polar Year (IPY), their colleague, who has returned from North Pole, has informed that there it is raining.
