The concealing glaciers in the West of Canada have bared the fragments of flora, which age exceeds 7 000 years. The fragments of the trees, which grew in the territory of Canada since 5000 B.C. were discovered. However, geologists do not experience large optimism in this occasion, since ices have reached their historical minimum, and all happening is result of global warming.
Ancient flora was discovered approximately in 60 kilometers to the north from Vancouver provincial in Garibaldi Provincial Park in the southern Coast Mountains, British Columbia, Canada.
It was possible to establish the age of the fragments of trees with the help of radio carbon analysis technique. According to the experts, the discovered samples considerably differ in the structure from nowadays existing trees .
“The discovered fragments of trees are in the very good condition, on some even is present outer layer. This detail explains by the fact that all these years fragments actually were in the complete isolation and in the sufficiently cold conditions under several meters of ice “, explains Dr. Johannes Koch, geologist from The College of Wooster, which revealed finding.
It is interesting to note, that among the found fragments is present and several stumps which are located on the place of their ancient growth, and moreover, their root system also was preserved.
“This finding also testifies the fact that in the north of Canada ices have very decent period “, - he says. Also scientists do not exclude other findings, as thawing goes very actively.
Geologists note that the similar findings earlier have been made in other regions of Canada, European Alps, high mountain region of New Zealand and South America.
