Potomac Eagle

I'm dedicating this video to Gil and Ann...a West Virginia boy and his bride living in Germany. On October 27, 2007 my husband and I took the Potomac Eagle scenic train from Wappocomo Station (in the video I butcher the pronunciation) in Romney, WV to Petersburg, WV. A 52 mile trip along the south branch of the Potomac River, a portion of which which passes through The Trough, an 8 mile stretch of narrow mountain valley. "You have entered a sacred place, the eastern home of our magnificent national symbol, the American Bald Eagle. These majestic birds soar high above in their natural habitat, undisturbed by the low rumblings of the occasional train and the passengers who have come for a sighting. Don't be surprised to see these superb flyers swooping overhead in pursuit of prey or gliding gently across the blue mountain skies as if to flaunt their supremacy of the air." We not only saw eagles, we saw Red Tail Hawks, many deer, and a Blue Heron soaring above the river.We also pass by magnificent historic homes which date from the revolutionary and civil war era. ......there was just too much to include in a 5 minute video so I'll just post some of the highlights as well as I can and highly recommend this experience to anyone who may think they're remotely interested in a scenic train ride! http://www.potomaceagle.info/ music: Fred Eaglesmith "I Like Trains"
