This of course is a song about the nastiness of religious indoctrination. Its futility and degradation to the souls of all otherwise decent people.

I've got the post new-year drink too much blues......I'm just listening to all the great Irish singers on you tube and trying to get my head straight....I'm lost....but this helps....

Very well put.
This is much more a song with meaning than a song that's supposed to be pretty.

This is a song from the heart...as time moves along it only becomes more relevant...it isn't the singer it's the song.

Saw PB several times in the early '80s at the Half Moon in Putney. Just unbelievably brilliant live. He signed an album for me, and next gig he walked past me to the stage and said 'are you still here?' in a lovely playful way, in that beautiful voice. Unfortunately I was being squired by my brother-in-law of that time, but in my diverting daydreamy version we disappeared off after that gig into the night together and lived happily ever after. I can dream, and believe me I do (sigh);)
