you need a head to operate the cab. the head acts as the EQ setter for the cab itsself.

They are not very god i'm afraid for the £160-£180 / $300ish you would spend you could buy something from the Vox Valvetronix Series, the Crate v18, Roland Cubes etc. For the money you can get a far better tone. Oh and although it looks big and loud it isn't would get above a good drummer or fill anything bigger than a small pub.
