ok to be serious, with all these advanced weaponry i've seen sofar, (ABL, Super turret, Global Hawk, etc.) america impresses me but really starting to scare the shit out of me! with all this advanced shit, you hardly going to need nukes! take all of them into action at once and you'll clear hostile locations greatly reducing the risk of killing innocent people. much better then one nuke BOOM!!

"You cant blame America for following the convention."
Not only can I, I'm doing so now.
"Where do you get your info about covert operations in western germany, s.korea, or japan?"
I was talking about Western Europe, in particular Italy. In West Germany, Nazis were reinstalled in key posts.

"fixed up S.Korea"
By supporting brutal dictatorships who massacred their own people.
"Expelled Iraqi forces from Kuwait,"
After he misunderstood April Glaspie's message. The Gulf War resulted in up to 200,000 dead Iraqis, including thousands slaughtered after they tried to retreat and after Saddam had already surrendered (this is a war crime). Civilian infrastructure was deliberately targeted WITHIN Iraq, including water treatment facilities.

Thats how wars were fought. Civilians were just as targets as military personnel. You cant blame America for following the convention.
Where do you get your info about covert operations in western germany, s.korea, or japan?

Ok Captain America, a pat on the back for you. Now go finish reading your Bible.
"Fixed up western Europe, fixed up Japan"
Sorry, you don't get to boast about "fixing up" after using nuclear weapons against civilians or bombing Dresden so brutally that people were being sucked up into the air from the fire.
"made all of them to become quite democratic and flourishing societies."
No it didn't. In fact when it looked like the people would vote the wrong way, it initiated covert operations.
Beliserius1 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
What good the US has done?
Lets see... Fixed up western Europe, fixed up Japan, fixed up S.Korea, made all of them to become quite democratic and flourishing societies.
Expelled Iraqi forces from Kuwait, removed the dictator in Iraq.
Helped to maintain stability in the pacific with the US pacific fleet.
Thats just from the wars/military.

"Well, if the US would have won the vietnam war, i am pretty sure it would have faired much better."
Again, no one gives a shit what you think. What matters (or what should matter) is what the Vietnamese think. They were the ones who lost millions of lives and had their country turned into a crater. But go on, do tell them that you're "sure" they would have faired better if the US had won. I'm "sure" they'd feel a whole lot better.
cayetanoluis (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"I agree the US does some bad, but you are overlooking the good they are doing."
You haven't provided any examples of the "good" it's doing. You've merely repeated the same old cliches and lies told to you by your government, which you unquestioningly swallow as facts.

"imperialism require absolute control over the country"
You're just playing with words now. Imperialism requires a program of subjugation, subversion and control (not necessarily "absolute"; I don't know where you got that rubbish from) of another country's resources for the benefit of the aggressor state. The United States has such a program. Therefore it is an imperialist state, and has been for a long time.
Beliserius1 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
imperialism require absolute control over the country. Not just influence.
e.g. British empire, russian empire, roman empire.
Well, if the US would have won the vietnam war, i am pretty sure it would have faired much better.
I agree the US does some bad, but you are overlooking the good they are doing. |
