Not exactly. Theoretical physics, such as string theory are still held to be hypothesis because we currently cannot test them. The scientists who study these concepts are working very hard to find ways -to- test their theories; there have been some successes along those lines, though I'm not familiar enough with the subject to point to specific instances.
This is the crucial difference between a scientist a creationist. The scientist wants to know if he's wrong. The creationist doesn't care.

I like your use of the Simpsons clip of the guy with the PhD in Truthology. Keep it up.

Metaphor is for the weak minded, try talking in realistic terms, you might find an actual answer.

"ists that you are.."
I'm also an asshole..ist, if you want to get on my bad side, go for it little one, you'll be crushed, just like that non-existent god you and others like you gleefully lie for.
"getting the exact date"
Misrepresenting science, great..
"where the small bean came from"
The continuing effervescence of universes as the Planck scale is most likely how our universe came into existence.
Science is ever changing, you need to catch up.
trintts (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
OK, so you are one of "them"! Good luck Mr. Physicist/cosmologist and other --ists that you are...getting the exact date of the big-bang, and also finding out what was going on before the bean appeared, just to be put under immense pressure and burst...and where the small bean came from; that would be very informative.

The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation is the light left over from the Big Bang, shifted to microwave wavelengths due to the expansion of the universe. The whole universe is bathed in this afterglow light. This is the oldest light in the universe and has been traveling across the Universe for about 13.7 billion years. The light patterns across the sky encode a wealth of details about the history, shape, content, and ultimate fate of the Universe.

"some obscure theory"
Theories are testable, objectively reproducible and potentially falsifiable.
"We have no hard evidence for any of those claims or theories"
Actually yes we do, or they wouldn't exist in theory to begin with. I'm not going to argue this with you, when you are on the internet and google this stuff yourself.
"We have no hard evidence for the bigbang"
IT HAS BEEN PROVEN, google: WMAP
trintts (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
We cant have faith in what science says, based on some obscure theory. Today they think it's M theory, then it's string, or both...mere speculation. The universe is expanding, dark matter this, dark force that, bla bla. We have no hard evidence for any of those claims or theories;just observatory research that disregards visual illusions. Voyager is just a few miles off our galaxy, and that's the best we have. We have no hard evidence for the bigbang, except theories based on baseless deductions.

"age of the universe (13....billion years bla bla bla) based on how far our eyes can see"
We get the age of the universe from the Lambda-CDM concordance model, not from how far our eyes can see. This model is well understood theoretically and strongly supported by recent high-precision astronomical observations such as WMAP.
"the concept of multiverses or pre-big bang theories"
M theory and string theory take the big bang into account in the calculations.
trintts (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I did not say science is devilish. Science is good, and scientific advances are good too. My point is that the more you understand physical nature, the more you realise the originator of all matter is beyond study! Good examples of speculative theories include age of the universe (13....billion years bla bla bla) based on how far our eyes can see or the concept of multiverses or pre-big bang theories(disregarding whether or not there was such a big bang)...I'm talking about hard stuff here. |
