Military strengh doesn't matter anymore between superpowers. Both the US and Russia have enough ICBM's to wipe eachother off the map.

Damn, i feel sorry for Russia these days. The financial crisis have hit the country very hard, the price on oil which is as we speak, down to $40 a barrel is creating huge social and economy problems. The 500 billions Putin did save when oil prices were high is down to 200 billion now, just in trying to avoid a economy collapse close to what happened in 1991 and 1998. I hope Russia is soon back on its feet, i don't want them to fall behind.
