Not really distilled water doesn't contain CO2. Rainwater OTOH can contain both CO2 and SO2 which effectively makes it into a weak acid and a better electrolyte.

Its best to use distilled water of course. Like you would in your car battery.

I have all my house powered with solar panels and wind mills. I never pay for electricity. I GET PAID for selling electricity. I have full instruction on how to make very cheap home made solar panels.

i dont know exactly how it works but it does. i just bought some metal, copper, alligator clips and led lights. im going to set it up tomorrow and see how long the setup will keep an led light lit for. i live in a city with a water bill so if it doesnt give electricity for extended periods of time it might not be worth it unless i could capture and store rain water that falls on the roof or melted snow or something. i know if u add salt to the water it increases the amount of electricity.

if the water gives off electricity for a long time i plan to put enough cups of water together to charge a 12v battery so i can get a little free heat in the winter.

idk which is which but when u recreate that experiment u get electricity. the real question is how long will a cup of water give electricity out b4 it dies. we have a water bill in my city. but an alternative is collecting rainwater. soon i am going to put enough glasses of water together to power an led light and see how long it will stay on for without any interference.
