Just air. A video going around on Youtube that starts with "Hey Roy", same engine in my other video with a parabolic dish, incorrectly states "Hydrogen is the working gas". All small engines use regular air because filling them with any gas, it would be gone in a few cycles. They are sealed, but not perfectly.

This one has regular air too.

Is there hydrogen or just air inside of the expansion chamber?

I used to have a sterling engine similiar in design to that one. Too bad it fell off a shelf and bent that reciprocating rod connecting the two pistons.

I've been amazed at solar panels making the utility meter spin backwards. But this small engine video is truly amazing. Thank you.

the more sun the more effective, but Eu govt is supporting private household mini power stations to have access to the grid by law and financial subventions on the kilowatt Hours supplied.

your wrong there, sterling powered by dishes has become an industry here in middle Europe even. They can power a house and feed excess energy into the grid for cash. they use a better cooling system and track the sun fully automatic. they are priced at around 25 K euros and pay off within 8 years

where can i get an engine like that
raulitech (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
well done

Great idea with the Fresnel lens. It is very large, very thin and cheap, compared to a classic glass lens. If you would have some black aluminium where the sun rays hit and a thermal insulator in between the hot side and cold side, I think the efficiency could improve.

Inventors have always been my hero's.
There has got to be some real money in the stirling engine area,Often seen as a toy by most people.
I keep designing ideas in my head but never seem to make anything.. |
