hey chem guy! thankyou how sharing your knowledge! i understand the method for calculating the G (free energy change)rather well now! I have only one problem tho :( i have a negative G value which is great, but i wish to approximate this value by checking it against the literiture G value (g = (sum of) G reactants - (sum of) G products) but i cant find the data on any of the thermo tables avalible!!! the reaction is:
Zn(s) + Hg2So4(s)+ 7H2O(l) = ZnSO4.7H2O(s) + 2Hg any help would be great!

I cannot believe that i made it click for me in under half an hour! unbelievable!! For this i am eternally greatful, and i say this from my heart. You have restored my faith in the world of phys chemistry, i can now @ 24 years old finally pick up a physical chemistry book and relate to it :)
Thankyou so much Chemguy! you're on the source
very kind regards from the UK :)

i have spent years trying to understand thermodynamics and phys chemistry, and i have spoken with many in the hope they might help me understand it, (im not joking! i even went as far as taking tutorials at imperial college London!) and as of today had no luck at all :( then i was drawn to u tube and i found you! you are an incredibly formidable teacher, and many tutors even at the highest level are mere shadows in comparison.

Hey,
Thanks for your videos. Just wanted to clarify if delta H is positive in that equation does that mean the reation was endergonic? It's the only thing confusing me:(
Thanks again, you are like my teacher for this summer
